In 2011, I went for my first SEA Games and missed the final by 1 placing. In 2013, I won my first SEA Games medal, a bronze. In 2015, I was so injured I could only train every alternate day, but I won a Silver. In June 2017, I missed the then 44 year-old national record by 0.02 seconds, only to break it 2 months later at the SEA Games where I broke the record by almost 1 second with a surprise Silver to boot.
My track career was filled with injuries and near misses, but I overcame every one of these obstacles with grit and determination to better myself, to break records, and to stand on the podium. Hard work pays off, and that’s why I #NeverStop.
Now, I contribute back to the sporting community through workshops, advisory roles, and In My Shoes to continue to improve our community and infrastructure so athletes know that we’ve got their backs, while they fight to achieve their goals.
I am proud to be partnering with @grab_sg in their latest #NeverStop campaign, which is about finding empowerment to overcome your limitations and keep pressing on.
